Safari from Dar es Salaam

This journey will begin with a 5- to 6-hour drive from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park. You’ll go on a game drive when you arrive.
Mikumi’s scenery offers a tranquil wildlife experience, with regular sightings of Elephant, Giraffe, Zebra, Antelope, Wildebeest, Eland, Crocodile, Hippo, and Baboon. If your luck is on your side, you will not miss seeing Lions and, eventually, the Leopard. Mikumi is home to around 300 bird species, including the saddle-billed stork, hammer kop, malachite kingfisher, lilac-breasted roller, yellow-throated long claw, battler eagle, and more.

Don’t miss Hippo Pool, where you may see hippos wallowing and snorting up close.

Day 1

Arrival - Dar es Salaam Airport

You will be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and driven to Mikumi National Park. Upon arrival, you will embark on your first game drive, where you can expect to see a wide variety of animals. Your expert guide will help you spot wildlife and provide you with interesting facts about the park and its inhabitants. In the evening, you will stay overnight in one of the park’s lodges or tented camps.

Day 2

Drive to Mikumi National Park

Wake up early for a sunrise game drive, where you may have the opportunity to see some of the park’s nocturnal animals such as leopards and hyenas. After breakfast, enjoy one final game drive before heading back to Dar es Salaam.
