Marangu Hotel

The Marangu Hotel, which has been operating since 1932, is built on 12 acres of lovely gardens. For over 80 years, we’ve been organizing Kilimanjaro climbs on all routes. The original farm buildings (now offices and reception) were constructed as part of a coffee farm in 1907 and transformed in 1932. Meals are cooked with vegetables from our own gardens and home-baked bread, and guests are accommodated in cottages located around the gardens.
Cottages dot the grounds, providing guest accommodations. The cottages come in a variety of styles, each with its own personality. Single, double, and triple rooms, as well as family cottages that can sleep up to four persons and a baby, are offered in a variety of sizes to meet your needs. The center verandas of several cottages are popular with small groups traveling together. Each room has its own bathroom with a bath and a shower.

Location of Marangu hotel

Located on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, 6 kilometers from the starting and finishing points for climbers. It is surrounded by twelve acres of mature, well-kept gardens. The ice-capped Kibo and the rocky Mawenzi peaks of Kilimanjaro are seen from here. Cottages dot the grounds, providing guest accommodations. Every room has a private bathroom with either a bath or a shower. The hotel features a croquet lawn for guests’ enjoyment.

Swimming pool

A lovely swimming pool is also located on the hotel grounds. Guests may have lunch and tea by the pool before swimming in the afternoon.

Food and Drink at the Hotel

While resting in the gardens or in one of the hotel lounges, guests may enjoy a selection of beer, wine, and other beverages at the hotel bar. Fresh juices made with seasonal fruits and vegetables from the restaurant’s own gardens are also offered.
