Lushoto to Mambo Experience

This 6 Days Usambara hiking itinerary offers hikers with amazingly beautiful views that come along with the Usambara Mountains scenery. This 6 day tour takes you from Lushoto Mkuzi, Kwekanga and Rungwi. The best way to experience and get the best out of the Usambara Mountains, located on the Northern side of Tanzania is to embark on a village to village trek crossing hillside farms nestled between the Usambara mountains and lush green surroundings of rainforest. This is not only a hiking experience but also a true taste of the farm life.

Day1

Arrival at Airport to Moshi

Our tranquil Kilimanjaro driver will meet you at the airport and afterwards drive you to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for an overnight stay before you begin your 6-day Usambara hike.

Day 2

Moshi to Lushoto

After early morning breakfast, you will drive from Moshi to Lushoto. The distance from Moshi to Lushoto is approximately 222 km or 138 miles and it takes about 4 hours 30 minutes to drive from Moshi to Lushoto. You will arrive at your recommended hotel in Lushoto for lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the Avocado Lodge whereby you will meet your guide for briefing about your 6 days Usambara Mountain trek.

Day 3

Lushoto to Mkuzi

We take you to Mkuzi from Lushoto for a 4 hour hike that covers a distance of 12.3 km or 7.6 miles. After your satisfying trek at Mkuzi you will head to your lodge. You will have dinner and overnight at Muller’s Lodge.

Day 4

Mkuzi to Kwekanga

Our fourth day of the 6 day Usambara hike takes you for a day hike to Kwekanga. This is by far the longest trek of all the 6 days. You will cover a distance is the longest of our trek with the whole day hike covering a distance of 18km or 11 miles and it will take you around 6 hours of hiking. After your day hike, your accommodation will be in the form of homestay whereby you will spend your night amongst local, leaning their way of life and experiencing how the local people of Usambara live.

Day 5

Kwekanga to Rangwi

Leave Kwekanga in the morning after breakfast and head to Rangwi which is 13km (8 miles) away. And spend the night at the Rangwi Convent for dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Rangwi to MamboViewPoint Lodge

The last day of our 6 days Usambara Mountains hike leads us to our final destination of the day, the Mambo View Point Lodge that will reward you with stunning views of the Tanzanian terrain below or even Mount Kilimanjaro, weather permitting and when the skyline is clear.
