The Bantu Utamaduni Lodge, also known as Mountain Rock Lodge, is nestled within the lush tropical forests of Mt. Kenya, offering a serene retreat for visitors seeking a unique experience in nature. Situated north of Naro Moru, this lodge boasts a range of accommodation options, including rooms, tented lodges, and a campsite. It serves as the administrative hub for Old Moses and Shipton’s Camps on the Sirimon Route, catering to the needs of trekkers and adventurers exploring the majestic mountain.

With 42 elegantly appointed rooms, the lodge provides traditional comfort and VIP services to its guests. The spacious rooms are divided into two categories: Standard and Superior Standard, the latter featuring a fireplace and television with DSTV. From the comfort of their rooms, guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the green gardens and lush forest surroundings.

The lodge offers a range of services and amenities to enhance the guest experience. The Batian Restaurant, with a seating capacity of 80, serves delicious meals in a cozy atmosphere. Additionally, there are two bars—Old Moses, with an indoor setting and fireplace, and the Garden Bar—for guests to unwind and enjoy refreshing drinks.

For those seeking outdoor adventure, the lodge provides ample opportunities for exploration and recreation. The lush lawn serves as a fully serviced campsite, complete with shared kitchen facilities, flush toilets, and hot/cold showers. Guests can bring their own tents or rent them along with beddings and mattresses from the lodge.

The Superior Standard rooms, comes with a fire place and television set with DSTV.
The rooms have a beautiful view of the Green Gardens and bush forest around the lodge.

Amenities

The lodge’s scenic picnic grounds, nestled amidst tropical woods and gardens, offer a perfect setting for al fresco dining and relaxation. Adventurous souls can partake in boat rides on manual or motorized boats, exploring the serene waters of nearby lakes. The Merry Go Round adds a touch of whimsy to the experience, offering joyrides for up to 14 people.

Entertainment is provided in the form of traditional dances, showcasing the vibrant culture of the Agikuyu people. Additionally, the lodge offers conference facilities, cultural village tours, and horseback riding excursions for guests to immerse themselves in the local culture and natural beauty of the surroundings.

Camping site;
The lodge features a verdant grass that may also be used as two separate campsites that are completely maintained and are equipped with a shared kitchen, flush toilets, and hot and cold showers. There is firewood available for you to use for your personal campfire.Additionally, you have the option of bringing your own tent with you or renting tents, bedding, and mattresses from the lodge. We provide both options.

Boats are both manual and motorized;The manual has a capacity of 3 and motor boats have a capacity of 12.
