Day 1: Arrival and Tent Setup – The journey from Dar es Salaam to Magoroto Forest takes about 4-6 hours, offering scenic views along the mountainous terrain. Upon arrival, you will settle in by setting up our tents and enjoying a hearty meal before retiring for the night.

Day 2: Hiking, Swimming, and Campfire Fun After breakfast overlooking the stunning landscape, embark on a hiking adventure, choosing from easy, medium, or hard trails. Opting for the medium hike, as you trek through uneven terrain, enjoying the camaraderie of fellow travelers and breathtaking views at the summit.

Returning to the campsite, indulge in swimming and relaxation by the lake, followed by a cozy campfire gathering in the evening.

Day 3: Tree Planting and Departure Before heading back to Dar es Salaam, Tranquil Kilimanjaro will arrange a tree planting activity in partnership with Magoroto Forest Estate. Contributing to reforestation efforts, plant trees along the mountain road, ensuring a safer and greener environment for future travelers.

To reach Magoroto Forest, you can take public transport to Muheza village and then hop on a boda boda to the forest. Alternatively, you can opt for a group trip organized by Tranquil Kilimanjaro, a travel collective offering guided tours to off-the-beaten-path destinations in Tanzania.

We take care of all arrangements, including transportation, camping equipment, meals, and activities, making it a convenient and cost-effective way to explore the country with like-minded travelers.

Magoroto Forest Estate is conveniently accessible from several major cities and towns in Tanzania, including Dar es Salaam, Moshi, and Arusha. Here’s how you can reach Magoroto from each of these locations:

  1. Magoroto Forest From Dar es Salaam:

    • Distance: Approximately 316 kilometers
    • Travel Time: Around 6-7 hours by road
    • Route: The most common route is to travel northwest from Dar es Salaam on the A7 highway towards Tanga. From Tanga, continue north on the A14 highway towards Muheza. Magoroto Forest Estate is located near Muheza, off the A14 highway. You can reach the estate by private vehicle or public transportation.
  2. Magoroto From Moshi:

    • Distance: Approximately 150 kilometers
    • Travel Time: Around 3-4 hours by road
    • Route: Head northeast from Moshi on the B1 highway towards Tanga. Pass through towns like Segera and Korogwe before reaching Muheza. From Muheza, follow signs to Magoroto Forest Estate, which is located off the main road.
  3. Magoroto From Arusha:

    • Distance: Approximately 250 kilometers
    • Travel Time: Around 4-5 hours by road
    • Route: Travel east from Arusha on the A23 highway towards Moshi. From Moshi, follow the directions mentioned above to reach Magoroto Forest Estate via the B1 highway towards Tanga.

It’s advisable to plan your journey and consider factors such as road conditions, traffic, and weather conditions. Additionally, you can arrange for transportation services or guided tours from these cities to ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip to Magoroto Forest Estate.
