Lobo Wildlife Lodge

The Lobo Wildlife Lodge is an old but well-maintained property established in 1968, built right into the massive Lobo Kopje – a huge pile of rounded granite boulders rising out of the northern plains. It’s one of the few lodges with really standout views – from the pool or terraces, you look down over rolling grasslands, wooded hills, and river valleys that stretch toward the Masai Mara border. The northern Serengeti stays rich with resident wildlife all year: prides of lions, leopards in the rocks, elephants and buffaloes moving through, giraffes, and plenty of plains game. From August to November, the migration herds often pass nearby on their way south, so you can catch that spectacle without long drives, and the area’s quiet roads mean you often have sightings to yourself. The lodge is spacious with 75 rooms in boxy two-storey blocks along open corridors, so it’s not super intimate – it can feel busy when full – but the rooms are clean and functional in that 1960s style: polished wood floors, twin or double beds, big glass windows for views, safes, kettles, hairdryers, and small en-suite bathrooms with tiled showers and baths. Some interconnect for families, and a few have extra beds for triples. The main areas blend into the kopje rocks – a bright restaurant with buffet meals, a Moroccan-themed bar, and a stunning pool carved into the stone with high views over the plains (sunloungers and umbrellas make it a great chill spot). There’s a small shop for souvenirs, and Maasai traditional dancers often perform at the viewpoint for sundowners. Staff keep things running smoothly, and the vibe is relaxed with a mix of international and local food. Recent safari goers say the location is unbeatable for northern game – one saw multiple lion prides and a leopard in two nights, another loved the pool views and quiet roads. Location

Lobo Wildlife Lodge is in northern Serengeti National Park, built into the Lobo Kopje (a large granite hill) with views over valleys and plains toward the Masai Mara border. Excellent resident wildlife year-round, migration passage August-November. Lobo Airstrip is 2.5 km away (short transfer). Fly from Arusha (about 2 hours), then drive. Driving from Arusha takes 8-9 hours.
